20TH ANNIVERSARY
| WHEREAS, | SPARK Lodge, or Scouts Practicing Amateur Radio Knowledge, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its "Jamboree on the Air" operations at the Musser Scout Reservation in Marlborough Township; and, |
| WHEREAS, | SPARK Lodge, originally known as Valley Forge Amateur Radio Club, was founded by the late Hank O'Neill, William McCouch, and current trustee Reginald Leister to promote the use of Amateur Radio as a hobby and educational experience for Boy Scouts; and |
| WHEREAS, | The first "Jamboree on the Air" station took to the airwaves 20 years ago from Woods Lane Cabin at what was then known as the Delmont Scout Reservation; and, |
| WHEREAS, | SPARK Lodge offers Scouts the opportunity to earn merit badges for Radio, Computers, Electricity and Electronics and teaches classes for Scouts interested in obtaining an Amateur Radio License; and, |
| NOW, THEREFORE | We, the Commissioners of Montgomery County, do hereby congratulate |
SPARK
Lodge
on the occasion of its
20TH ANNIVERSARY
and ask all
Montgomery County residents to recognize the
outstanding service it
offers to Cub
Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venture Crews and youth from
throughout
the region.
It is affixed
with the ribbon seal of the Montgomery County
Commissioners and is signed by them, James R.
Matthews, Chairman;
Joseph M. Hoeffel, Vice Chairman; and Bruce L.
Castor, Jr. County Commissioners.
